Fife Council’s Carbon Footprint in 2013/14 was around 92,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

Carbon emissions are a relatively new concept for us all to get our heads around. To provide a bit more understanding about the quantities of carbon associated with various activities below:

One tonne of  carbon emissions is equivalent to:

  • The use off equipment, heating and lighting by all high schools in Fife for half an hour

  • Running 1 drinks vending machine for 9 months

  • Running 33 PC monitors for 1 year (during working hours)

  • Making 57,000 cups of tea

  • Driving 3,000 miles in a car- that’s 1 return journey from Glenrothes to Rome.
